BART Opens Season with Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, Its First Production Staged at the Woodsong

Bethany Beach, DE September 12, 2017— The Bethany Area Repertory Theater (BART) is pleased to announce the production of The Mousetrap, a murder mystery by Agatha Christie. The show will be performed on BART’s new stage at the Woodsong Country Inn in Frankford, DE, September 21-23 and 29 & 30 at 7:30pm, with a special Sunday Matinee September 24th at 2pm.

The scene in The Mousetrap is set when a group of people gathered in a country house, cut off by a snowstorm, discover to their horror that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed.

The Mousetrap is the longest-running play in the history of London’s West End. Running continuously for over 60 years, it has established Agatha Christie as a playwright in the public eye. The play is known for its twist ending, which the audience is traditionally asked not to reveal after leaving the theater.

In its first season at the Woodsong Country Inn, BART is thrilled to have a new space that will not only accommodate more patrons in a beautiful country setting, but gives BART a larger stage area to produce its shows. “A cash bar will be available pre-show and at intermission to provide patrons with wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as snacks provided on the tables in cabaret-style seating,” says Rusty Hesse, treasurer of BART.

With this new endeavor, BART’s growth brings more exciting firsts! BART now has a new website, BARTinBethany.com, not only with information about the upcoming productions, new online ticketing, and directions to the Woodsong, but also information, announcements, and a full channel about the BART Scholarship Program, a key component of BART’s primary mission.

BART would like to take this opportunity to thank the Woodsong, and all of its member volunteers who have worked tirelessly in getting the venue ready for its first production— from building the stage, creating and painting the set, installing lighting and sound, cleaning, and adding the final touches to donations of lights, computers, and linens.

Come on out and enjoy our new setting, BART at the Woodsong Country Inn, at 37269 Dirickson Creek Rd. in Frankford, DE.
